RACE REPORT BY VICTORIA PATTERSON – 7th September 2025
Even after 4 consecutive years of doing the Great North Run I still get excited about taking part. After seeing Col to the Metro station I did my usual warm up walk to The Moor. As I approached the slip road down towards the start line I got goose pimples.
The atmosphere all along the whole route is out of this world. People are shouting out your name, giving out sweets and cheering you on. As you run amongst the other 60,000 other runners it`s a sea of charity and club vests.
When you get to mile 10 everything is hurting, you dig deep as your part of something bigger than just you.
You’re at mile 12 as you go down the hill onto the sea front and the final mile. This year I felt more determined and stronger as I knew I would get the biggest of hugs from Col.
The emotion never fails to hit me as soon as I get over the finishing line.
Thanks GNR for the best half marathon experience, you never fail to disappoint.
