7th December 2025 – RACE REPORT BY HELEN KELLAR
Percy pud, South Yorkshire’s infamous 10km race attracting more than 3000 participants and organised by the mighty steel city striders.
Competition is high to get in to the race, but our little stocksbridge running club worked hard to represent with a reyt good gang on the start line. Helen, Narni, Dave, JP and his wife, Jenny, hub and sister, and Jolene met up at the Admiral Rodney for a quick photo then on to the loos for a pre race wee.
The queue for the loos was vast and I had various clothes faffing to contend with and so set off a bit late, galloping after the main crew. Off we set, an undulating course out and back to Low Bradfield, alongside low dyke reservoir. A nice scattering of supporters cheering us on along the way.
Narni, glowing from her recent 10km record glory bought glitter and Christmas cheer to the event dressed as a Christmas tree, sparkles, tinsel and joy aplenty.. some pretender tried to trump our naan with a tent shaped tree box, but we soon over took him, what an attention hog!
On we galloped, reaching the end just before the rain came in. All scoring a Christmas pudding and a new hat, and some great scores on the doors for our little club:
JP: 40:41
Helen: 44:26 (F45 and Female club record)
Jenny: 46:06
Narni: 46:25
Jonathan M: 46:31
Dave: 48:09
Samantha M: 50:50 (F55 club record)
Jolene: 56:34
Also JPs wife got a PB and Jen’s hubby is edging closer to a SRC membership…
Great results all round, let’s keep growing and going from strength to strength our mighty little club 💪
